Keep up to date with our project news here and in the Nassington Village Magazine
Following the presentation of the Stage 1 Feasibility Report to Nassington Residents in May, our thoughts are now turning to the next stage of the NEAT project. We are currently in the process of signing-off Locogen’s final report and considering how best to proceed from this point.
For those of you who missed the presentation of the Stage 1 report, the final report will be posted onto our new website as soon as it has been signed off. We also anticipate that there will be a final project webinar for the feasibility study at some stage over the summer. This will be free for anyone interested in the project to attend online. Please keep an eye on the website for date and online access details.

January 2024
Many of us are concerned about rising, unpredictable energy costs, the unsustainability of oil, pollution and growing fuel poverty. But taking action as individual household can be difficult. For example, I’ve spoken to lots of residents in the village, who have explored a heat pump, but found the up-front costs of retrofitting or changing radiators made it impossible. It’s hard to know where to start to get good independent advice on insultation and to find the time to make changes.

As a reminder and for anyone who missed January’s article, we have mobilised a project team of Nassington residents to explore cleaner, more financially predictable and secure options for our heat and power. We are still at early stages, exploring what may be possible. The idea is to mobilise a collective response, that includes and benefits everyone in the village regardless of income or house type, removing the barriers that prevent individual homes from making a change.
July 2024
We were successful in our grant application to the UK’s Community Energy Fund, with an award of £40k to explore the financial and technical feasibility of various heat and power options for the village. We have also tendered and selected a partner to work with us on this key phase and are in the process of running final diligence checks.

February 2025
An information evening was held in the Village Hall by the Nassington Energy and Thermal (NEAT) team on 14th January. The purpose of the meeting was to provide a progress update on our feasibility study for community energy and heating and to engage people to contribute questions and ideas.
The meeting was well attended and, following the update from the NEAT team, useful discussions were held with the attendees. Thank you to everyone who attended for your time, energy and creative contributions.
April 2025
The last few months have been a busy time for the Neat team. This period has coincided with increasing global uncertainty resulting from the disruptions to global trade following the introduction of trade tariffs by the US and the continuation of various armed conflicts around the World. These geo-political issues come at a time when climate change is increasing the likelihood of disruption and damage to critical infrastructure through extreme weather events. This all combines to create uncertainty over the cost, availability and reliability of traditional energy supplies.
